Dai Lin (Chinese: 戴琳; pinyin: Dài Lín; born November 28, 1987) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League.
Club career
Dai Lin started his professional football career with Liaoning Zhongyu in 2005 with his debut match against Changsha Ginde F.C. on the 14th of April in a 2-0 win.[1] A versatile player Dai Lin quickly established himself within the team throughout the league season and scored his first goal against Tianjin Teda on July 16 in a 1-0 win.[2] He remained with the team for several further seasons when he helped Liaoning to several mid-table positions until the 2008 Chinese Super League saw Liaoning relegated after a disappointing season when they were relegated on the last day of the season.[3]
Dai Lin attracted interest from Bosnian side FK Slavija while his transfer listed price was £356,212. After deciding not to renew his contract with Liaoning it was believed that he would train with them for the start of the new season while the transfer went through.[4] Dai Lin however went to Shanghai Shenhua half way through the 2009 Chinese league season after only two months with the Bosnian team at a very surprising cut-price deal that saw him go for just £44,000.[4] At Shanghai he was quickly inserted into their team and would make his debut in a league game on August 2, 2009 against Jiangsu Sainty where he came on as a substitute for Aleksander Rodić in a 2-2 draw.[5] After that game he would quickly go on to become a regular member of the team and score his first goal for the club against Tianjin Teda F.C. in a league game on September 20, 2009 in a 4-0 victory, however his poor disciplinary record saw him limited to only twelve games throughout the season.[6]
International career
Dai Lin was included as part of the squad in the Football at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's tournament, he however did not play in any of the games.[7] Despite his limited playing time with the youth set-up he would eventually graduate to the mens senior team once he became a integral member of the Shanghai's defence and go on to make his debut in a friendly against Latvia on November 11, 2010 where he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 victory.[8]
